IMPAK PERSEKITARAN MAKLUMAT TERHADAP KEPUASAN KOMUNIKASI SEKTOR AWAM (Impact of Information Environment towards Communication Satisfaction in the Public Sector)
Abstract
The public sector is important in designing, developing and implementing various development programs in order to strengthen the administration and management of the country. Thus, the government is always seriously monitoring with various management information towards the task of civil servants, patterns employer relationship with the workers, so that all planning and execution of works are implemented properly and able to assist the government in achieving the desired goal. Accordingly, effective communication management within the organization is very important in order to generate the overall communication satisfaction among the employees who is believed to be a catalyst pertaining to the various aspects that related to communication in the context of management and administration of the organization. Therefore, the main objective of the study focuses on the relationship between information management and communication satisfaction. The study focused on public sector organizations in the context of information management that is based on Weick Organizational Information Theory (1979). A survey method had been used involving of 420 government support staffs from five ministries in Putrajaya. Simple random sampling is applied and questionnaires conducted using face to face and consists of 4 parts, namely Part A includes questions based on the profile of respondents, Part B focuses on the key aspects of Information Management consist of information environment, information equivocality and communication cycle. Whereas, Section C focuses on communication satisfaction. Measurement variables based on Likert Scale and analyzed using SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Sciences) version 17 and AMOS (Analysis of Moment Structure) version 21. The research found that there was a significant relationship between all aspects of information management with communication satisfaction among the support staffs. In this context, the study found that the aspect of communication cycle dominated and contributed 90% to the communication satisfaction followed by the information equivocality (28%), and information environment (25%). Meanwhile, the moderator factors such as age and working experience, the results showed that there is a significant impact on the relationship between information management and communication satisfaction. It is hoped that with the information obtained from the results of this study, the practice of information management can be implemented efficiently and improve communication satisfaction in the public sector. In addition, this study is expected to be used as a guideline for further research in the future.
