Pengumpulan Semula Orang Asli di Betau: Satu Penelitian Ringkas
Abstract
This article attempts to discuss the resettlement and regrouping ofthe Orang Aslifrom the Semai community in Betau, district of Kuala Lipis, Pahang. A total of 286 families were involved in this programme. The participants of this scheme were given financial assistance, housing and a small plot of land each for rubber planting. They were also given animals to rear so as to encourage them to change their traditional way of life to one that is more 'advanced'. This paper will also examine the implication of this resettlement and regrouping programme on the lives of the Semai community after they have all been resettled in an area which was smaller than their previous kampungs and have been encouraged to leave behind their traditional way of life so that they could be incorporated into the mainstream of national development.
