The Relationship between Mathematical Beliefs, Metacognition and Problem Representation with Mathematical Problem Solving Performance
Abstract
The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between students’ mathematical beliefs, metacognition, problem representation and their mathematical problem solving performance. The sample consisted of 644 form four students from the state of Selangor, selected via multistage cluster sampling technique. Three instruments were used: Mathematical Beliefs Instrument, Metacognition Instrument and Problem Solving Instrument. The data collected was analysed using standard multiple regression analysis. The result showed that there was significant relationship between students’ mathematical beliefs, metacognition and problem representation students’ with mathematical problem solving performance
