IMPAK COVID-19 TERHADAP ALAM SEKITAR: SOROTAN DARI SUDUT PANDANG ISLAM (Impact of COVID-19 on the Environment: Highlights from an Islamic Point of View)
Abstract
ABSTRAK
COVID-19 yang melanda dunia sejak Disember 2019 telah memberi impak yang besar kepada dunia. Antara impak yang ketara adalah dari aspek sosial, ekonomi dan alam sekitar. Sejak penularan COVID-19, rutin kehidupan seharian penduduk dunia telah berubah apabila telah mencetuskan kebiasaan baharu seperti penetapan Prosedur Operasi Standard (SOP), iaitu mewajibkan amalan penjarakan sosial dan pemakaian pelitup muka di tempat awam dalam usaha memerangi dan mengekang penularan wabak berkenaan. Kebiasaan baharu ini pastinya memberi implikasi yang besar terhadap alam sekitar. Justeru, artikel ini adalah bertujuan bagi mengenalpasti impak akibat daripada penularan COVID-19 terhadap alam sekitar dan sorotan dari sudut pandang Islam tentang perkara berkenaan. Bagi mencapai objektif ini, kajian berbentuk kualitatif digunakan yang mana kajian literatur merupakan pendekatan penting bagi mengumpul data yang diperlukan. Kaedah ini digunakan dengan merujuk kepada buku, artikel dan bahan bertulis yang terdiri daripada sumber primer tanpa mengecualikan data sekunder. Hasil kajian mendapati bahawa impak COVID-19 terhadap alam sekitar adalah terdiri dari sudut positif dan negatif. Perbincangan turut menyentuh tentang nilai-nilai Islam yang perlu dihayati dalam mendepani impak penularan COVID-19 terhadap alam sekitar.
ABSTRACT
COVID-19 that has hit the world since December 2019, has had a great impact on the world. Some of the significant impacts are from social, economic and environmental aspects. Since the spread of COVID-19, the daily life routine of the world’s population has changed when it has triggered new habits such as the establishment of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), which is mandating the practice of social distancing and the use of face masks in public places as an effort to fight and curb the spread of the epidemic. This new habit will definitely have a big implication to the environment. Therefore, this paper is intended to identify the impact of the spread of COVID-19 on the environment, and highlights the matter from an Islamic point of view. In order to achieve this objective, qualitative research is used, where literature review is an important approach to collect the necessary data. This method is used by referring to books, articles and written materials consisting of primary sources without excluding secondary data. The results of the study found that the impact of COVID-19 on the environment consists of positive and negative aspects. The discussion also touched on Islamic values that need to be appreciated in facing with the impact of the COVID-19 contagion on the environment.
