Artikel ini membincangkan tentang privasi dan perisytiharan pemelukan Islam menurut  perspektif  Islam.  Isu  ini  perlu  kepada  penyelesaian  ekoran  banyak kesulitan timbul akibat kemasukan Islam seseorang mualaf itu dirahsiakan daripada pengetahuan anggota keluarga. Objektif kajian ini adalah bagi meneliti pemakaian konsep  privasi  dan  perisytiharan  pemelukan  Islam  semasa  zaman  Rasulullah SAW, di samping membuat perbandingan dengan situasi pemakaiannya di negara ini. Kajian ini menggunakan pendekatan kaedah kualitatif   menerusi instrumen analisis  kandungan  berasaskan pendekatan  deskriptif.  Dapatan  kajian  mendapati konsep privasi dan perisytiharan pemelukan Islam semasa zaman Rasulullah SAW diaplikasikan  sewajarnya  dengan  mengambil  kira  pertimbangan  situasi  semasa itu dan bukannya atas dasar kepentingan diri. Bagaimanapun, konsep kerahsiaan kemasukan Islam yang diaplikasikan di negara ini masih terdapat unsur-unsur yang merujuk kepentingan diri sendiri terutama bagi melepaskan diri dari tanggungjawab yang perlu dilunaskan mengikut syarak. Kajian ini penting kerana sehingga kini masih belum ada satu peraturan khusus digubal bagi menangani isu ini.

ABSTRACT

This article discusses the issue of privacy and declaration of conversion into Islam according to perspective of Islam.  Decision on this issue is necessary as there are many unresolved matters arising as a result of conversion into Islam of a convert which are kept secret from family members. The objective of this study is to examine the usage of the concept of privacy and declaration of conversion into Islam during the period of the Holy Prophet, besides making comparisons with the situation of the usage in this country. This study has applied a qualitative approach through instrument analysis using descriptive approach. The finding of this study is that the concept of privacy and declaration in conversion into Islam during the time of the Holy Prophet was applied accordingly, taking into account situational considerations of that time and not based on personal interests. However, the concept of privacy of conversion into Islam applied in this country as required by syarak, still shows elements of self-interests particularly to escape from responsibilities. This study is of upmost importance for up to now there has not been any law in this country addressing this specific issue.
