Pengaruh Sosialisme Demokratik dalam Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR): Reformasi dan Cabaran Kepada Ideologi Alternatif di Malaysia (The Influences of Democratic Socialism Within Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR): Reformasi and Challenges Towards Alternative Ideology In Malaysia)

Abstract

This article is asserting on ideology of Parti Keadilan Rakyat in the context of Reformasi struggle and political programmes as a bargaining alternative package and as replacement to the domain ideology of the ruling party Barisan Nasional. The post-Reformasi era has built a creative hybrid of pragmatism ideology between the idea of socialism and liberalism in catalysing the rise of masses. With the use of ideology and philosophy of democratic socialism as the framework, this article is presenting three main dictums: the discourse of left and right spectrum, analyse the correlation between ideology of democrat socialism in PKR and the challenges that has to be faced by PKR in marketing their ideology. Based on the library research methodology, PKR in domain is a symbol of the Anwar Ibrahim as a grand design in uniting intellectuals of left and right in the party. Researcher has put an observation on the ideological situation which tends to be more dynamic in stimulizing political party to move towards the left, moderate (intermediate) and accepting half of the liberalism elements. The scenario implicitly shown the third way (centist) uphold by PKR is calibrating the virtues of equality, social justice, freedom and ‘ketuanan rakyat’ (citizenship supremacy). However, the supporting numbers for the party that centralized among the generation of pro-reformist will always become an obstacle in rebuilding alternative political cultures in order to become a counter-power for Malay political hegemony of UMNO, which imposes the ideology of race and conservatism.
