Pembelajaran Berasaskan Pengalaman Dalam Meningkatkan Kemahiran Mahasiswa Menerusi Projek Pemuliharaan Manuskrip Melayu (Experiential Learning In Enhancing Student Skills Through The Malay Manuscript Preservation Project)

Abstract


ABSTRAK: Penulisan ini membincangkan tentang Projek Pemuliharaan Manuskrip Melayu sebagai platform untuk melaksanakan pembelajaran berasaskan pengalaman (PBP) yang bertujuan meningkatkan kemahiran dalam kalangan mahasiswa. Hal ini penting kerana graduan bidang kemanusiaan sering kali menghadapi kekurangan kemahiran praktikal yang relevan untuk mempersiapkan diri dalam dunia pekerjaan. Justeru, projek pemuliharaan manuskrip Melayu diketengahkan sebagai pendekatan inovatif bagi menghubungkan kemahiran yang dipelajari di universiti dengan keperluan dunia pekerjaan. Projek ini dilaksanakan dengan berpandukan model pembelajaran pengalaman Kolb (1984) yang termasuk dalam kerangka teori pembelajaran konstruktivisme bagi menggalakkan pengetahuan dan praktikal mahasiswa. Fokus utama kajian adalah menganalisis projek pemuliharaan manuskrip Melayu yang dilaksanakan melalui pembelajaran berasaskan pengalaman untuk meningkatkan kemahiran mahasiswa dalam mengembangkan kemahiran kognitif, psikomotor dan afektif. Hasil kajian ini dapat menyediakan panduan dan sumber rujukan untuk mengintegrasikan PBP dalam kurikulum dan menyediakan mahasiswa dengan pengalaman praktikal dalam pemuliharaan manuskrip Melayu serta mempersiapkan mahasiswa menghadapi cabaran kerjaya seterusnya meningkatkan kualiti pendidikan dan memenuhi keperluan tenaga kerja yang semakin kompetitif. Keunikan kajian ini terletak kepada pengaplikasian model pembelajaran pengalaman dalam bidang pemuliharaan manuskrip Melayu iaitu bidang yang kurang dikaji sebelum ini dan seterusnya menyumbang kepada kepelbagaian amalan dalam pembelajaran mahasiswa.

ABSTRACT:This study to discusses the Malay Manuscript Preservation Project as a platform for implementing experiential learning (EL), aimed at enhancing skills among university students. This project is highlighted as an innovative approach to bridge the gap between skills learned in universities and the demands of the professional world. This is particularly relevant as humanities graduates often encounter a deficit of practical skills necessary for career readiness. This project is implemented based on Kolb’s (1984) experiential learning model, which is within the framework of constructivist learning theory to promote knowledge and practical skills among students. The focus of this study is to analyze the Malay Manuscript Preservation Project implemented through experiential learning to enhance student skills and its potential to develop cognitive, psychomotor, and affective abilities. This study’s findings can provide guidance and reference resources for integrating PBP into the curriculum, offering students practical experience in Malay manuscript conservation, and preparing students to face future career challenges. Additionally, it aims to enhance the quality of education and meet the growing demand for a highly competitive workforce. The uniqueness of this study lies in the application of the experiential learning model in the field of Malay manuscript conservation, which has been less explored previously and subsequently contributes to the diversity of practices in student learning.
