Literasi Kritikal Dalam Konteks Pendidikan Tinggi: Suara Dari Sebuah Bilik Darjah Di Malaysia

Abstract


Teras utama Pelan Tindakan Pengajian Tinggi Negara (MoHE, 2007a, 2007b) adalah melahirkan modal insan minda kelas pertama  untuk kemampanan pendidikan tinggi dari aspek   kebolehtenagaan dan kewarganegaraan (Dam-Mieras, 2005; Ryden, 2005). Pemikiran tak bersandar (independent thinking) dan kritikal adalah  ciri penting  modal insan kelas pertama (MoHE, 2007b). Kertas ini melaporkan penemuan awalan kajian yang menyelidik  suara dan  pengalaman pelajar pascasiswazah dari pelbagai latarbelakang linguistk yang mengambil kursus bertujuan   mengembangkan Literasi Kritikal (Critical Literacy) melalui perspektif dan kaedah Kesedaran Literasi Kritikal (Critical Literacy Awareness atau CLA). Konsep ini bertujuan  menakrif semula pembentukan makna dari suara, pengalaman dan wacana yang saling bersilang dan/atau bercanggah dengan idea perspektif ideologikal mengenai literasi dan kesedaran pengetahuan (Wallace, 1988; Lankshear & McLaren, 1993; Kress, 2003; Koo Yew Lie Yew Lie, 2009). Data utama penyelidikan tindakan ini adalah transkripsi percakapan pelajar dan guru.  Analisis  refleksi perjalanan  mereka  melintasi pedagogi CLA di sebuah kelas pendidikan tinggi transnasional di Malaysia turut dilakukan. Penggunaan kod pelbagai lapisan (bahasa tempatan, dialek, laras bahasa) dan pelbagai sumber kebudayaan dalam log refleksi subjek menunjukkan kerumitan penghasilan teks gabungan  yang dipengaruhi oleh lokasi sosial subjek. Selain daripada itu, penglibatan guru secara langsung dalam kedudukan subjek juga telah mempengaruhi  penggunaan kepelbagaian dalam proses pembentukan makna. Penemuan kajian menunjukkan  bahawa pencakapan guru (teacher talk) dan intervensi melalui pedagogi CLA  menpunyai hubungan silang budaya yang rapat dengan bahasa and budaya pelajar untuk membentuk pengalaman yang inklusif dan transformatif.
