Kelakuan Perbankan Islam dalam Menguruskan Pembiayaan di Malaysia (Islamic Banking Behaviour in Financing Management in Malaysia)
Abstract
Kajian ini menganalisis pengaruh spesifikasi bank, perubahan dasar kewangan dan persekitaran ekonomi ke atas kelakuan bank Islam dalam menawarkan pembiayaan. Perubahan yang berlaku dalam petunjuk di atas lazimnya akan mendorong bank membuat pertimbangan berhubung jumlah pembiayaan yang ditawarkan dengan objektif emaksimumkan keuntungan dan pada masa sama meminimumkan kemungkiran. Kajian ini mengguna pakai kaedah anggaran data panel untuk tempoh 1994-2010 bagi 17 bank Islam di Malaysia. Kajian ini mendapati bahawa corak dan kelakuan bank Islam dalam menawarkan pembiayaan dipengaruhi oleh faktor spesifikasi bank seperti tingkat pembiayaan masa lalu, pendedahan kepada risiko, tingkat saiz dan struktur permodalan. Manakala bagi faktor dasar kewangan pula, kelakuan pembiayaan bank Islam dipengaruhi oleh pelaburan dalam pasaran wang dan sekuriti kerajaan Malaysia. Bagi faktor persekitaran ekonomi, kajian tidak menunjukkan hubungan signifikan dengan kelakuan pembiayaan oleh bank Islam di Malaysia.
This study analyses the effect of bank specifications, changes in monetary policy and economic environment in Malaysia on Islamic banking behaviour in offering financing. In theory, any change that occurred in the above indications will influence financial authorities, especially bank management, to make modifications in the financing offered by referring to profit maximization objective while at the same time minimizing default. This study employs panel data estimation for the period between 1994-2010 for 17 Islamic banks in Malaysia. This study found that the pattern and behavior of Islamic banking in offering financing is influenced by factors such as level of previous financing, exposure to risk, and size and structure of the capitalization level. In terms of monetary policy factor, the finacing behavior of Islamic banking is influenced by investment in Islamic Interbank Money Market (IIMM) and Malaysian government securities. In terms of economic environment, the study showed no significant relationship to the behavior of financing by Malaysian Islamic banking.
